I’m always a bit teary-eyed as the year comes to a close. I simultaneously look back at the previous months and forward to those ahead and mentally measure my accomplishments against my expectations. One of the projects that I’ve been happy to watch come to fruition is the development of this blog.
Although RocketHR has only been cranking along for a few months now, I can tell that it is going to continue to become more popular in the coming year. How do I measure that success? Well, it’s getting steady traffic and subscribers, and it’s helping people to better themselves and their organizations. I’d call that a success.
In this final week of 2009, can you look back at your own year and honestly say that you were successful?
Yes, that might be a tough pill to swallow for some of you. Sometimes it takes a little stepping on toes to get people moving in the right direction. If you’re in the majority, and you’re unsatisfied with the direction of your personal or professional life, there’s still hope for you. It’s not too late to make something happen. You can get the ball rolling in a positive direction. Instead of getting discouraged, think about a way you can get a quick win or two and move into the coming year motivated to continue your winning streak.
- Is there a small task that you’ve been putting off?
- Maybe a small victory for you could be publicly thanking an employee for performing well?
- How about signing up for a college course or the HR certification exam?
The year is coming to an end. Is there anything you can accomplish before the new one starts so you can finish with success?
