As if I don’t run my mouth enough on my own blog…
Maybe we'll still be friends when we are old?
Every once in a while I get the chance to write a little something for some of my friends. In an effort to repay their kindness, I share the links with you in case you’re interested in checking one out. If you’re interested in seeing some of my previous escapades, click here for the Guest Post Blitz archive.
Victorio at the Creative Chaos Consultant (gosh I love that name!) blog put out an interesting challenge early this year. He wanted people to either commit to their goals or shut up about it. It was appropriately named the Put Up or Shut Up Challenge. A few weeks later I shot him an email detailing my progress so far. Click here to see how I fared with the Put Up or Shut Up challenge.
April Dowling at PseudoHR is a fellow geek. When I asked if I could write a post that involved science fiction, zombies, and giant meteors (and still tie it back into the human resources profession, mind you), she was thrilled. Click here to see how science fiction makes me better at HR.
RocketHR, the blog that I run for my local SHRM chapter, has a post from yours truly every Monday. Recently I talked about how to look brilliant, a free HR eBook, and free HR podcasts. As of now, there aren’t any other contributors over there, so if you subscribe to RocketHR, you’ll be getting a little more me each week (and can’t everyone stand to get a little bit more of me?). :-)
HRevolution has been on my mind lately, especially since we just opened up ticket sales for this year’s event. While it’s not exactly a guest post, I did design the HRevolution website, and that definitely took more effort than a guest post. I have to say that when I started in HR I had no idea I’d end up building blogs/websites as a side job. But I love it!
Anyone else read something cool they’d like to share? Maybe something you’ve read in the past week that really hit the spot? Drop it in the comments so everyone can benefit.
Well, it’s been a little while since I dumped off a load of guest posts on you in an attempt to look too busy to post here. I know you’ve been dying to see what else I’ve been up to, so I’ll share them today. I love doing guest posts for my friends. It gives them a day off, and it gives me a chance to connect with a new audience. I try to do them in batches, because it makes things easier for me. It also gives me the opportunity to do a guest post blitz! Okay, maybe it’s not really as super cool as it sounds. I just link to ’em. But hey, you get to visit a friend or two of mine in the process, so it could be worse, right? Let’s get the guest posts rolling! Continue reading
I try not to let things catch me by surprise. But it happens anyway. Oh, well! I am on the move much of the time, and I try to save my best writing times for this site. However, I occasionally slip in an article somewhere else, and I try not to let them go by without at least a passing mention. With that in mind, feel free to explore these little seeds that I’ve scattered to the four corners of the online world. Continue reading
Hold on for dear life!
I’m notorious for being unorganized, but I have several guest posts that went live (fairly recently) elsewhere that you may have missed. Some of them might be a bit different flavor than the usual UpstartHR offerings, so be sure to check them out!
CAREEREALISM – 4 Tips from an HR Insider
JT at CAREEREALISM worked with me when I was trying to land a job earlier this year, and she invited me to join the TAP program shortly afterward. If I ever decide to leave my current position, she’s going to get a call from me!
Lighter Side of HR – Leaving Work Stress Behind
Connie at Halogen hit me up for a post, and I certainly couldn’t turn her down. Sometimes it’s tough writing HR all the time, and I’m a runner at heart, so it was nice to get outside the bubble and write something that can help people in a different way.
HR Gumbo – 3 Reasons to Join Your Local SHRM Chapter
This one is the oldest of the bunch, but I don’t think I ever gave it the link love that it deserved. If you’re not a member of your local SHRM chapter, you could be missing out on a lot. I’m neutral on the value of the national SHRM organization, but the local one has been indispensable for me. Be sure to tune in Wednesday when I unveil the new local chapter blog I’ve been working on!
If you missed the original Guest Post Blitz, feel free to check it out now. I was able to wrangle five other HR bloggers into letting me write for their blogs. Check back Wednesday for more fresh content!

I know what you’re thinking. I don’t write nearly enough. Well, I’m going to settle that soon enough. The first UpstartHR Guest Post Blitz is going to be occurring on Monday, June 22. Five HR bloggers have graciously allowed me to grace their front page, and I appreciate them very much for giving me the opportunity. You can find me on Monday (hopefully!) at the following blogs…

Go. Read. Rejoice. (You know you want to!)
Also, just as a teaser, I’m working behind the scenes with a handful of HR bloggers on various projects that are going to be huge. Yeah, I’m a big thinker, but I’m also a big doer. Me-Making waves since 1985.
