One of the recurring conversations I had during the first day of theÂ HR Technology ConferenceÂ revolved around using HR technology tools to solve business problems. The issue with that, saysÂ Michael Rochelle, Chief Strategy Officer atÂ Brandon Hall Group, is this:
HR is a buffet of broken processes.
Applying technology to a misaligned strategy, poor tool selection, or inefficient process isnâ€™t going to magically solve anyoneâ€™s problemsâ€”in fact, itâ€™s just as likely to make it worse.
When weÂ recently did research onÂ talent management systems, more 27% ofÂ companies wereÂ actively considering switching to a new system or provider. Consider for a moment how many of those companies might actually have the right solution, but they donâ€™t have the right processes in place to support it. Or the opposite could very well be true: the company doesnâ€™t have the right processes or technology in place and needs to make a change to one or both.
